It was a busy morning for Norbert Michelisz and the Zengö Motorsport team at Termas de Rio Hondo as the Hungarian outfit used the two 30-minute Free Practice sessions to fine-tune the set-up of the No. 5 Honda Civic ahead of the first qualifying of the 2015 FIA WTCC season.
In FP1, Norbert was the first driver to take to the track in slightly damp conditions. He managed a lap time of 1:50,247 minutes and classified 10th, 2.2 seconds behind leader Jose-Maria Lopez (Citroen) who topped the time sheets in both Free Practice sessions. In FP2 Norbert improved a lot on the now completely dry track. He managed a lap time of 1:48,648 minutes which earned him 14th, losing 2.0 seconds on Lopez but making another step forward set-up-wise.
"It is a normal start to the season", Norbert says. "The bad news is that I am a little bit behind the others. However, the good news is that we are very close to the top performance-wise. Tiago (Monteiro) showed it. His pace was close to that of Citroen. This is encouraging. FP2 was not too easy, though. We did not have the pace and have to analyze our data. It seems the car balance on new tires will be better than on used tires. Therefore, I am expecting a top 7 result in qualifying. All the guys will do their best and so will I."
