In Q1 Norbert lapped the 3.9 kilometer Moscow Raceway in 1:38,579 minutes which earned him P6 and he advanced into Q2 easily. The second session proved to be more difficult. Norbert was not able to repeat his lap-time from Q1 that would have earned him P4 in Q2. Instead, his personal best of 1:38,918 minutes got him eighth and third in class of the Yokohama Drivers' Trophy behind his rivals Tom Chilton and Hugo Valente.
"It was not a bad qualifying session for us", Norbert says. "Finishing eighth is not what I had expected us to do before the weekend. My aim was to be within the top 5. But that was not possible. I realized it after the practice sessions. But P8 also means third position on the grid for race 2. So there we have the possibility to score important points."
However, this is not enough for the No. 5 Honda Civic WTCC driver. He wants to dig into the data to find out what went wrong in qualifying. "To me it is always more important to be there in terms of speed. Therefore we have to analyze why there was a difference to the others", Norbert says. "And I try to improve for tomorrow."
