It’s a Japanese success story for Norbert Michelisz and the MOL Group Zengő Motorsport team at Motegi: the Hungarian outfit claimed pole position at Honda’s FIA WTCC home event! For the first time this season a Honda Civic WTCC will lead the field in the warm-up lap on Sunday.

Norbert managed to do that in style: in the top 5 shoot-out he managed to get the perfect lap and with that he was 0.080 seconds faster than reigning World Champion José María López to claim pole position, his third one in FIA WTCC.

“Honestly, I don’t know what to say! I still have so many fond memories of 2013 when the Japanese race weekend went exactly the same”, Norbert says. “I did my maximum today. I don’t think I could have gone any faster. But I just had to give everything because it’s an important event for Honda. This could be an important step for the future.”
