Norbert Michelisz is determined his charge to pole position in Japan earlier this month won’t be a one-off in this season’s FIA World Touring Car Championship.

The Zengő Motorsport Honda driver broke Citroën’s pole stranglehold with a stunning lap in the top-five qualifying shootout at Twin Ring Motegi.

But the Hungarian privateer, current leader of the Yokohama Drivers’ Trophy, wants the Civic WTCC’s recent upturn in speed to continue when Shanghai hosts Rosneft WTCC Race of China this weekend.

“With the pole position we showed that the progress is there and I think the most important thing is to keep the progress for the rest of the season,” said Michelisz, the highest-placed Honda driver in the WTCC standings in fifth overall.
