Rob Huff took his first victory in the WTCC since Macau 2014 in the opening race in France, jumping into the lead at the start and going to take the chequered flag with over a two second lead on his debut for the Honda, while battles raged behind in an intense reversed grid race.

Citroën won the first MAC3 time trial event of the 2016 World Touring Car Championship by just three-hundredths of a second from Lada, while Honda’s attempt was almost literally stalled after Opening Race pole-sitter Rob Huff bogged down at the start.

Citroën’s José María López claims pole position for first round of the World Touring Car Championship for the third consecutive year, putting in a stunning lap of 1:28.950 in the one-lap shootout to outqualify Honda’s Tiago Monteiro, with team-mate Yvan Muller third.

Thed Björk put his Volvo S60 fastest in the final practice session of the World Touring Car Championship at Paul Ricard, finishing ahead of the Honda of Tiago Monteiro and the Lada of Nicky Catsburg, with the best-placed Citroën that of Yvan Muller in fifth.

Honda’s Tiago Monteiro jumped to the top of the time sheets just after the chequered flag in the Saturday morning free practice session at Circuit Paul Ricard, where the top spot changed hands many times throughout on a drying track.
